GENERAL INFORMATION

Favourite event: 100m Butterfly. It’s been my event since I was 13 years old.

Finest ever performance/Why: 100m Butterfly Olympic Trials 2008. I got a pb in the final and qualified for Beijing. Also pleased with my medley relay bronze from 2006 European Championships, I had had a really rough year, and winning a medal was a good way to finish it.

First senior international meet: World Championships 2003, Barcelona

Role models: No one really, although Chris Martin (coach) is really inspiring.

My aspirations are: Get quicker! I have spent the past 3 years getting back to my 2004 form. Now I am there I can move forward time wise.

Tip for the top: Persistence. Believe in what you do.

Life after swimming: Like to be an author or a music video producer.

Music: I quite like Jefferson Airplane, Led Zepplin, Massive Attack, Pearl Jam.

If I wasn’t a swimmer I would be a: I’d like to think I would be playing rugby, but I’m not big enough. I would probably being doing a doctorate.

Football, Cricket or Rugby: Rugby, as it is more intriguing. I follow Gloucester best as I can.

Describe yourself in three words: Happy / Conserved / Passionate

Would most like to meet: Can I have a dinner party? I would invite Stephen Fry, Daniel Day Lewis, Eddie Izzard, Jessica Alba, Myleene Class and Thom Yorke (Radiohead). That would be a great mix.

Most prized possession: Family, friends and my degrees.

Biggest influence on career: Parents and Coach. I have been with Chris Martin for the last 10 years.
