Favourite event: 200m Backstroke. I have more time to get into my racing. The 100m Backsstroke is a bit quick/short.
Finest ever performance/Why: Can I have two? European Junior Championships 2007 and the Japan International Meet 2007. At the EJC, on the final day of the competition, I won 3 gold medals, 100m Backstroke, 200m I.M and as part of the medley relay team. Unfortunately, I couldn’t collect my first two medals though as I had to prepare for my next event. Japan was great because I smashed my PB for the 200Back against a world class field.
First senior international meet: European Long Course 2006
Role models: Anyone who follows their dreams
My aspirations are: To win Olympic gold at some point, and simply enjoy my swimming career.
Tip for the top: Believe in yourself and enjoy.
Life after swimming: Maybe university. It is difficult to think beyond swimming as it is happening now and I am really focused on that.
Music: A bit of everything, nothing specific
If I wasn’t a swimmer I would be a: Probably fat! I’m only 17 so I’d probably still be at school having a ‘normal’ life.
Football, Cricket or Rugby: I know the rules of cricket, so either that or rugby. Not football, I can’t stand it.
Describe yourself in three words: Witty / Bit mad / Good laugh
Would most like to meet: George Bush, to find out what he is really like. Also Brad Pitt
Most prized possession: Laptop. It use to be my mobile!
Biggest influence on career: Family, friends and coaches. I have a really good support group around me.
