the asa Level 2 Award in Aqua Jogging

This course provides instructors with the skills to design and deliver safe, effective, quality balanced Aqua Jogging programmes and to evaluate the effectiveness of an Aqua Jogging group session.

Description:
For those who enjoy jogging but are unable to undertake high-impact activity, Aqua Jogging includes many of the benefits of jogging on dry land while eliminating the shock impact that can affect joints.  Water provides support for the body whilst its resistance and hydrostatic pressure increases blood flow throughout, reducing exercise heart rates and leading to a highly effective workout.

Duration: 3 days

Entry requirements:
- You must hold a relevant Level 2 fitness qualification
- Ideally be aMember of The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)
- If you hold an existing asa Aqua Fit award without a formal Level 2 exercise & fitness qualification then you may gain entry to this course however you will not be able to gain REPs membership registration or REPs CPD points through achievement of this award alone

Course content:
- Principles of fitness
- Principles of training
- Theory of exercise in water
- Types of exercise to use in water
- How to plan, instruct and evaluate a Aqua Jogging training session

Assessment:
You will submit a portfolio of evidence which contains the following:
- Screening documentation for all participants
- Session Plan designed for Aqua Jogging
- Training card for Aqua Jogging
- Session Plan Organiser
- Evidence of CPR/First Aid certificate
- Health and Safety Worksheet
- Promote the Adoption of Physical Activity Worksheet

You will then be observed instructing your group through the planned session.  Following assessment you will carry out a written evaluation of your performance and create an action plan for your continued professional development.
