Your Local Pool

Many pools are aware that different people want different types of sessions. Aquatic exercise isn’t limited to lane swimming any more – check out what else your local pool offers.

Alternatives such as aqua aerobics, inflatable fun sessions and water circuits are becoming more common and we have great new programmes that let kids try other activities such as diving, synchro and water polo, without lots of rules or specialist equipment.

Can’t find the session you want at your local pool, why don’t you ask? You never know there may be others like you who have the same interests and you may be able to encourage the pool operators to add it to their programme.

Want to know what’s on?
Go to www.activeplaces.com put in your postcode and find out what’s available in a pool near you.  Don’t like the web?  Contact your council for info on local pools.

Free swimming
The government has launched it’s free swimming campaign, which will see swimming becoming free of charge for over 60s and under 16s in certain areas across the country from April 2009. Ultimately the government wants people to be able to go swimming without having to pay. Check with your local swimming pool to see if they will be operating the government scheme.

You can also swim for free at your local participating pool without paying a penny if you collect vouchers on the back of special Kellogg’s packs. Cut out your voucher, look up your nearest participating pool in Kellogg’s pool locator HERE then go and claim your free swim.
