Information for parents

As a parent you are no doubt looking for the best learn to swim or school swimming programme for your child.

swim21 accreditation is the ASA’s 'quality mark' so you can be assured every swim21 accredited programme is offering the very best way to learn how to swim.

Specifically, it’s about ensuring the programme is delivering quality lessons, run by fully qualified teachers in a safe and appropriate environment.

All sites that have swim21 accreditation have submitted a suite of documents to demonstrate that they offer a well managed learn to swim and/or school swimming programme. A qualified assessor will have made a mystery visit and also conducted an official assessment day to inspect the programme and its delivery.

How do I know if it’s a swim21 programme?
All programmes that have achieved swim21 are allowed to use the swim21 logo on their letterheads, promotional material and website. They also receive a certificate from the ASA and window stickers to display at their pool in order to promote their achievement.

What if a club isn’t swim21 accredited?
The opportunity to gain swim21 accreditation is available to all of those offering learn to swim or school swimming programmes.  Not all clubs or programmes are accredited yet (learn to swim and school swimming accreditation began in September 2009).

Ask your programme provider if they are aware of swim21 or if they are working towards accreditation. By bringing it to their attention, you might assist them on the way to achieving swim21.
