Learn to swim

Knowing how to swim is a must – it is a skill that could ultimately save your life.

the asa believes that everyone – regardless of their age or ability – should have an opportunity to learn to swim and we work with swimming pools and schools to make sure they provide learn to swim lessons for adults and children.

As well as being a vital life-skill, swimming also allows you to enjoy other water-based activities (such as surfing or sailing) safely. It can provide the foundations for participation in many other sports like diving, synchro and waterpolo.

Swimming is open to all ethnicity groups and is a great sport for those with a disability.

Swimming is the nation's favourite sporting activity so why not find out how you can join more than 20m people who take part in swimming every year.
