The Good Club Guide
The Good Club Guide is a series of user friendly and practical resources written by the Amateur Swimming Association to help volunteers undertake their role within a club.
The Good Club Guides are designed specifically for volunteers, to assist clubs in providing opportunities for all to achieve their potential... from the thousands of volunteers that support the sport, through to athletes, teachers and coaches. The purpose of the Good Club Guides are to guide volunteers and clubs in good practice relating to high quality club management, in order to support the needs and value the volunteers who contribute their time.
The resources available via the links at the bottom of this page are: · Good Club Guide for a chair person · Good Club Guide for a workforce co-ordinator · Good Club Guide for a treasurer · Good Club Guide for a secretary · Good Club Guide for a funding and sponsorship officer · Good Club Guide for a marketing/prolotions and press officer · Good Club Guide for a team manager · Good Club Guide for a club captain · Good Club Guide for a welfare officer · Good Club Guide: Ever thought of volunteering · Good Club Guide: An overview · Good Club Guide: Young Persons Leaflet · Good Club Guide: How to organise an aquatic event
For each club role there is a Good Club Guide booklet available that can be downloaded in a PDF format. The booklet provides:
· A guide to the roles and responsibilities of this position · Templates/resources to assist you and save you time · Top tips and good practice from experienced volunteers · Further information and learning/ training opportunities
These booklets are supported by the Good Club Guide EXTRA resource, which is an online presentation of suggested activities that will help volunteers to prepare for and successfully carry out their roles. This is a powerpoint resource which anyone can work through in their own time or it can be used by County or Club Workforce Coordinators to facilitate training sessions.
The information within these guides has been compiled and reviewed by aquatic volunteers who are knowledgeable and experienced within these roles. The Good Club Guides have been created to support the ASA’s Club Development programme swim21. They are intended to complement swim21, by providing tools, templates and resources that will assist the running of a club, and ultimately assist in working towards or maintaining swim21 accreditation.
